Missing Teeth?

Question:  Hello, I didn't knew anything about dental procedures, I lost one teeth in my anterior region, then dentist suggested bridge, my two teeth used for bridge were completely healthy and fine, but still he did root canal on those. I did as he suggested. Now when I am reading on internet and some other places, they are saying root canal should not have been done if abutmentts were healthy. Now I am worried about my teeth. Will the lifetime of those teeth due to rct decrease? Or would it cause me any problem? I am worried lot about it. Please guide.

Remember
To replace any single tooth there are three options-

Option 1.

If you want fixed teeth then - the topmost is DENTAL IMPLANTS

Adv of implant
-fixed
-last for many years
-bone remains the same even after 10 years. (slight change maybe)
-soft tissue remains the same even after 10 years.
-there is no need to cut the adjacent healthy tooth.

Dis adv of implant
-time taking procedure takes more than 3-4 months, sometimes even more than that.
-technique sensitive procedure.
-expensive, will cost from 10000/15000/20000/25000 to 60, 80k per tooth.
-it can also get an infection if not kept well called         Peri-Implantitis.

Option 2

in fixed is a DENTAL BRIDGE, i.e taking the help of adjacent teeth and making 3 teeth together.

Advantages
-takes less time
-less expensive than the implant.
-it is fixed so no need to take it out.

Dis advantages
-1. Two natural teeth are cut and in the future, there is likely that those abutment teeth may get a cavity, or sensitivity or may need a root canal.
2. If not kept well infection in gums, bone

Option 3

Removable- Not Fixed

Advantages
-takes very less time to make.
-less expensive than the implant, and dental bridge.
-not technique sensitive.

Disadvantages
- you got to remove it every night
-gums and bones reduce with time.
-chances of caries and gum infection in the supporting teeth
-mouth smell if not cleaned

Before implants came into practice, dental bridges were given as that was the only fixed treatment for replacing missing teeth available.

But with the implants invention, the topmost priority is given to implants when there is a need for fixed teeth and because of many advantages over the bridge and removable.

Deciding on what is to be given whether the implant or the bridge varies from case to case.

-Gum health
-Bone health
-Overall medical health of the patient
-Paying ability
-What is the patient expectation?
-If the patient is in hurry or there is less time for the treatment.
-Nearby labs are present or not
-More qualified implant doctors are available or not in case of any situation turns worse in implant surgery.
-You stay near to the clinic or far.

So your dentist's decision on giving you a bridge depends on the above-mentioned factors.

If the root canal is done perfectly, if you maintain your teeth all three of them then it may last for many years.

If you want to let them be healthy forever,
maintain oral hygiene, do floss, brush twice, brush at night, reduce sugar, and keep visiting the dentist every 6 9 12 months to get an xray of all three and keep them with you. And always compare your xray with the last ones you have taken. With this, your bridge may last for a longer time.

Always remember even an implant fails too if no hygiene is maintained, if not brushed twice, if not flossed, etc.

Do not worry things are done now.
Now you have to follow up with him/her.
